The LM25118-Q1MHX/NOPB is a versatile Buck-Boost switching regulator controller designed for a wide voltage range of applications, with a particular focus on automotive use. It is capable of maintaining output voltage regulation even when the input voltage is either less than or greater than the output voltage, making it well-suited for the varying conditions encountered in automotive environments. The controller employs a dual-mode approach, operating as a buck regulator when the input voltage is sufficiently greater than the regulated output voltage, and smoothly transitioning to the buck-boost mode as the input voltage approaches the output. This ensures optimal conversion efficiency in the buck mode, while providing glitch-free output during mode transitions. The LM25118-Q1MHX/NOPB also incorporates current mode control using an emulated current ramp, reducing noise sensitivity and enabling reliable control of very small duty cycles in high input voltage applications. Additionally, it includes drivers for the high-side buck MOSFET and the low-side boost MOSFET, as well as protection features such as current limit, thermal shutdown, and an enable input. The device is available in a power-enhanced, 20-pin HTSSOP package with an exposed die attach pad for enhanced thermal dissipation, making it an excellent choice for automotive power applications
